Shop ear piercing jewelry for every spot on the ear, from a first lobe stud to helix, tragus, conch and daith piercings. Most pieces are titanium or 925 sterling silver, and a smaller range comes in 18k gold plating. Cartilage piercings need a flatback or labret stud that sits flush against the ear. Lobes can take screw back and butterfly studs. Looking for something higher up? Browse our helix piercing jewellery. If you are unsure about size, message us on WhatsApp before you order. Choosing Ear Piercing Jewellery by Placement
The right piece depends on where the piercing sits. Soft lobe tissue and firm cartilage need different backs and post lengths.
Lobe
The lobe is the most forgiving spot. Screw back and butterfly studs, hoops and danglers all work once the piercing has healed. For a fresh lobe piercing, a plain titanium or 925 silver stud with a slightly longer post leaves room for swelling.
Helix and Upper Cartilage
Ear cartilage piercing jewelry should sit flat against the back of the ear. Flatback and labret studs do this, so they press less on the piercing when you sleep or wear a scarf. Our helix piercing jewellery collection groups the studs and danglers made for this spot.
Tragus, Conch and Daith
These inner cartilage placements have less room, so small flatback studs, labrets and small clickers fit best. Daith piercings usually suit a curved or C shape piece. Save chain and dangling styles for piercings that have fully healed, since extra weight and movement can irritate a piercing that is still settling.
Flatback, Labret, Screw Back and Butterfly Backs
A flatback stud has a flat disc behind the ear instead of a butterfly clutch. Labret studs work the same way and are common for cartilage. Internally threaded studs screw the top into the post, so no sharp thread passes through the piercing. Screw back and butterfly studs are the classic lobe option. Their clutch is not built to sit flush against cartilage.
Titanium, 925 Silver and Gold Plating
Titanium and 925 sterling silver make up most of this range. Nickel is the metal most often linked to contact allergies, so a nickel free metal matters if your ears react easily. Gold plated pieces have a thin gold layer over a base metal. They suit healed lobes better than a fresh piercing, because plating can wear over time.
Getting the Size Right
Check the post length and gauge on each product page before ordering. A new piercing swells, so a longer post is the safer first choice. Once it heals, you can move to a shorter post that sits closer to the ear. As a general guide, lobes take 6 to 8 weeks to heal and cartilage takes 3 months or longer. Your piercer can tell you when your own piercing is ready for a change.
